From an early age, Karla was drawn to the intersection of heritage and design. Growing up in Latin America, she was surrounded by the vibrant textures and artisanal crafts that first shaped her eye for meaningful spaces. Her professional foundation was built in Miami, where she spent over a decade helping scale her family’s furniture business into a premier partner for luxury hospitality brands and five-star hotels.

In 2019, Karla moved to Berlin, a city at the heart of the global design conversation. This move allowed her to reconnect with her paternal roots and immersed her in the European "Warm Minimalist" movement—an aesthetic that prioritizes architectural silhouettes, organic textures, and objects that feel collected over time.

Today, Karla leads Fern & Home as a global curator. Based in Berlin, she serves as the brand’s "eye on the ground," drawing daily inspiration from European galleries, craftsmanship, and street style. She carefully selects each piece in the collection to ensure it carries that signature international sophistication, while maintaining a seamless logistics network within the United States.

By bridging her Miami business roots with her Berlin design perspective, Karla ensures that every Fern & Home piece is curated with a global soul and delivered with domestic ease. When she isn’t curating the next collection, Karla advises a global non-profit and enjoys exploring the world with her family, always looking for the next piece of "living art" to bring to your home.
